Sinethemba Njanti: His Injury A Major Concern For Mbombela

Sinethemba Njanti’s injury remains a thorn in the flesh of Mbombela United’s attack.

Sinethemba Njanti injury remains a thorn in the flesh of Mbombela United’s attack. Njanti was injured on the 10th of January this year in Mbombela’s 1 – 0 win against Vasco da Gama in Parow. Despite being constantly supervised by the team’s fitness trainer and physiotherapists, Njanti’s knee injury is likely to keep him out of action till next season.

Despite having signed for Free State Stars, his contract with Mbombela expires in June this year and his services remained vital in the team especially in the last 4 matches and worst still, should the team qualify for promotional playoffs. His absence has been greatly felt by the entire team with Mbombela drawing more matches than in the first round.

Free State Stars have shown interest in him prior to 2014/15 ABC Motsepe playoffs which Mbombela eventually won. He has been very influential in Mbombela United’s 1 – 0 win against Amazulu in Durban and United’s 2 – 0 win against Swallows where he came off the bench to steal the winner in both instances. Speaking to Thumelo Khumalo, United’s fitness Trainer, he said that “there is a possibility that the boy may play in the last 2 matches of the season should he get consistent rehabilitation.”

It was however disgruntling to hear his agent Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi saying “Sinethemba Jantjie’s contract with Mbombela United will be up soon. He started the season well and was scoring goals for the team, but for some reason the player hasn’t been getting game-time in recent matches. Since February he hasn’t been getting enough game time. He was scoring and creating goals for his teammates earlier in the season. I’m not happy with the fact that the player hasn’t been getting game time lately. I suspect that it’s being done deliberately to frustrate him, as his contract with them is coming to an end.”
